Hi, I'm Melanie, but most of my friends call me Mel!
After more than 30 years as a classroom teacher, I've traded lesson plans for travel plans—but my love of learning, researching, and discovering new things hasn't changed a bit!
For me, the journey begins long before the suitcase is packed. I love researching a destination, discovering the possibilities, and imagining all the things we might see and experience once we arrive. That anticipation is part of the adventure.
Over the years, Joe and I have made some wonderful travel memories together. And one of my favorite parts has always been coming home and sharing our experiences—where we stayed, what we enjoyed, and those little discoveries that made a trip special.
Nothing makes me happier than hearing that someone followed one of my recommendations and had an amazing experience of their own.
That's why I created Making Memories with Mel.
Now I get to combine my love of research, planning, and travel to help others experience that same excitement. Whether you're dreaming of an Alaskan adventure, a Caribbean cruise, a family getaway, or somewhere you've always wanted to visit, I'd love to help you discover what's possible.

Travel has always been about making memories for Joe and me, but one particular adventure holds a special place in my heart.
As our 40th wedding anniversary approached, Joe had promised me the honeymoon trip we never officially had. We considered several destinations, but Joe had one place in mind—Alaska. There was something he really wanted to see: Denali.
Well, I gave in. 🤣 No romantic beaches... just Alaska!
Little did I know, Alaska was about to get ahold of me. ❤️
That trip reminded me how much joy comes from discovering new places, sharing unforgettable experiences, and making memories together.
